LCD Soundsystem - 45:33 (Remixes)

It's hard to believe that 45:33 has been with us since 2005. It still sounds as fresh and energising as when it first creeped into our lives. We now have an updated and remixed version released last month after having undergone a 2009 workout (ahem) from some of house and disco's finest. The original track placings have not been altered hugely. Have a listen.

More Radiohead covers

This is Eoin's pet project, I know, but I thought I'd steal a little of his thunder. The Guardian have asked 5 modern Jazz composers to record their own take on In Rainbows' Nude, with interesting results. Worth a nice relaxing listen.

More Radiohead Remixes

As I mentioned on the radio show last week, Radiohead have done the do-with-it-what-you-will thing again, this time with the already flawless Reckoner. If you're unfamiliar with the process, it simply involves Radiohead posting the 'elements' of a song onto the www.radioheadremix.com website, where DJs download and rearrange them as they see fit.

The results are interesting to say the least; an afternoon on the website threw up italo, dubstep, techno and electronica efforts posted by over a thousand DJs, ranging from anonymous bedroom folk to the almighty James Holden.

My favourite thus far is this one by Dubliner My Wooly Hat.

BSITWTs #11 and #11a

BTBW is spiffed to see that people are still remixing the shit out of all things Thom Yorke related. Here are two of the better efforts I've heard of late:

The first, from Ring Trick, is a proggy rendition of In Rainbows closer Videotape. Much like the original, it resists the temptation to fall prey to over-indulgence, while still comfortably retaining its haunting/captivating/*generic-Yorke-related-adjective* intensity.

The second, from Yorke's 2006 record Eraser, is simply a classic go-faster track*.

* Song which invariably, and inexplicably, turns your jog into a sprint for circa 27 seconds.
