Vampire Weekend October 23rd

Standard-bearers for the STUCK (Smart, Trendy University College Kids) generation of indie bands, Vampire Weekend's eponymous debut album must surely be a contender for 2008's album of the year. Combining catchy summery feel-good sounds with catchy smart-ass lyrics, they have been on everyone's lips all summer, with apparently eye-catching shows at both Oxygen and Glastonbury. While it was never hugely in doubt, we are delighted to see that the inevitable winter-gig-after-the-storming-summer has been announced, for the Ambassador on October 23rd. There was no real announcement for this gig, simply an email from MCD saying they were already on sale. Not sure what the motive for that one was, speculation is of course welcome. As far as I can see it is already sold out, which is a bit of a bummer for anyone without a ticket.
