The Warehouse Project - Line-ups Revealed

A pre-Christmas trip to Manchester is looking likely. Line-ups for the various Warehouse Project parties have been revealed.

Motivation.

"The Warehouse Project returns for a third season of events at Store Street. This year will see a plethora of the worlds leading players on the electronic music scene. The programme features what we feel are the best elements of what has gone before, and of course a barrage of new shows and warehouse debuts. Once again it has been tirelessly pieced together over the last seven months and as usual there are some very special announcements still to come.

It’s time for another three months of extreme partying deep underground the hallowed streets of Manchester… Welcome back to the Warehouse Project."

Efedemin @ Lowerstate - Friday 24 July

Serious date for the rave diary tomorrow evening. Efedemin (Dial records) will be making a welcome visit to Deeper/The Cellar. Support on the night comes from the one, the only, Rory D.

The press release goes as follows:

"Efdemin takes over the basement floor at Deeper Galway this Friday Jul 24th for a night of US/Techno/House. Voted RA’s top producer of 2007, Efdemin released his self-titled album 2 years ago on Dial and it received the RA 2nd best album of the year amongst rave reviews. Efdemin himself is noted as one of the best underground DJs in the world, having coming 6th in the RA Top DJs 2007 poll and his RA Podcast being a fine example of how to do it right. For some, the fact that Efdemin is resident at the ever-hallowed German venue the Panorama Bar is enough said as regards his ability to select and mix house music. His 2008 mix CD “Carry On, Pretend We’re Not in the Room” captures the effortless sense of panorama that oozes from one of his sets, an astounding mix that takes you from the deep house of Patrice Scott to the tribal techno of Dettmann & Klock to Photek’s barely-there, sci-fi house monster “T’Raenon“. Support on the night comes from LowerState’s Ruari, fresh from eclectic sets at Sonar and Oxegen festivals."

Get involved!

Not the first time Marcus Lambkin has featured in this category and appears for a deserved second time with new his track. The Dubliner moved to NYC in 1992 and hasn't looked back since(now based in Stuttgart, oh sweet Germany). Signed to DFA by James Murphy, expect big things when his album arrives later this year.

Frances Thornton Memorial Galway Bay Swim 2009

The Frances Thornton Memorial Galway Bay Swim will take place this year on Saturday, 18th July 2009.

The swim, renamed in 2008 in memory of swim co-organiser Kevin Thornton's mum who passed away after a long battle with cancer and now in its fourth year, will test 25 swimmers as they put their bodies on the line to cross the seven miles from Aughnish, Co. Clare to Palmers Rock in Salthill, Co. Galway.

Last year it was a dark day with grey rough seas and south westerly winds that had us swimming into the waves that guided us towards the docks and necessitated constant correcting. But that did not stop us!

This year it is the recession which has the potential to drive us back but we won't let it. With your help and support we will add substantially to the approx. €100,000 you helped us raise over the past three years.

Please support this worthwhile and deserving charity - we will do the training if you will back us up!

Thank you in advance for your kind support.
Confirmed swimmers (21) for the swim this year are: Kevin Thornton, Ronan Collins, Philip Gilboy, Donal Mahon, Kate Varley, Simon Flatley, Shane O'Neill, Cathal Codyre, Martin Kenirons, Barry O'Neill, Joe Smyth, Mark Smyth, Mark Bruzzi, Pat O'Loan, Jennifer O'Neill, Ciara Fahy, Hugh Varley, Jillian Coll, Deirdre McGrath, Dara O'Heachtairn and Alan Craughwell.

If you have any queries please contact Kevin Thornton (086-3571714) or Ronan Collins (087-9919107).

Best of luck to all involved from BTBW. We are all very proud!
